Chen Liang, un jeune homme chinois, est un immigrant clandestin cherchant désespérément du travail au Japon. Un jour, il reçoit un appel concernant une offre d'emploi destinée à quelqu'un d'autre. En désespoir de cause, il se fait passer pour la personne à qui l'on propose le poste et finit par travailler dans un restaurant traditionnel japonais de soba.
